It was a bright beautiful day, just like any other, in the Dream Valley. The earth ponies and unicorns were running about as the pegasi somersaulted through the sky. As the ponies tired out from all their fun, they settled in the grass to bask in the sun. A small earth filly, named Ember, cuddled up to the unicorn, Twilight. As she nestled into her side, she watched a small butterfly cross in front of her.

"Twilight? Will I ever fly like Firefly and Medley?"

Twilight chuckled, "No, Ember. Not all little ponies can fly."

"Will I jump far like Bowtie? Or disappear like you can?"

Twilight smiled at the little filly. "Ember, you'll grow up to be your own special little pony."

These were the words that Ember remembered for a long time to come. Ember longed to be like all the other ponies, but she wanted more. She wanted to fly like the pegasi and learn magic like the unicorns. But she was just an earth pony. Could she ever accomplish these things?

Ember endured many hardships. Being kidnapped by Tirek was no picnic for her, but she knew that she could endure anything after such a trial, and she knew she could always count on her friends to help her. Such trials only strengthened the little pony. With the new strength, her heart and desires grew and she longed to accomplish new things. Within a few years, however, a darkness rose over the land. A dark creature took control over Dream Valley. When it wasn't enough for him, he took control over the rest of their world. He turned their land upside-down. Chaos befell the land and all the ponies began to live in a state of unrest and unhappiness. The humans in the land, growing tired of his games, left for their world, one-by-one. But the creature was cunning, and knowing that they could return with an army, he destroyed the Rainbow Bridge that connected their worlds. The humans could no longer return to this world, and the ponies could no longer visit the humans' world. The ponies fell into despair and knew not what to do. With little hope left, six of the most heroic ponies in the land; Firefly, Twilight, Applejack, Surprise, Sparkler, and Posey, gathered together what magic they had left and sent their spirits forth and hid them away in six gemstones. The six spirits hidden away in the gems then became elements; Loyalty, Magic, Honesty, Laughter, Generosity, and Kindness. The gemstones were then hidden away so as not to be discovered by the dark creature and with the hope that, someday, ponies who would find them and know how to use them could defeat the creature.

But Ember was impatient. Her friends were all gone and those who were left were unhappy and dying away from their unhappiness. She knew that she had to do something, and so she left Dream Valley, searching for anyone who could rescue them. Deep in a forest, Ember was discovered by the creature.

"What are you doing, little pony?" He queried, as Ember gasped for breath, "Just where do you think you're going?"

"I am going to put a stop to this!"

The creature chuckled, "And just HOW do you intend to do that? You are just one little pony!"

"If Firefly could find help, then so can I!" Ember shouted out to the creature, angry and hurt.

"Ohhoho! Silly filly! There is no one to help you! All ponies are under MY control and the humans are all gone. What do you plan to do?"

"No one can stop me!" Ember shouted. "I WILL make it!"

"Au contraire!" The creature laughed, "I can stop you, my dear."

Ember was halted dead in her tracks. She panicked as her hooves were raised off the ground. "W-what are you doing?!" She shouted. "Put me down! PUT ME DOWN!"

"I commend you for your enthusiasm!" The creature said, "After all, you are but one small filly, but such large amount of bravery you possess. However, your revolt shall not go unpunished."

"No! No please!" Ember pleaded, "Just put me down! Please!"

"It's time for you to take a nap, little filly. A very looooooooooong nap."

The creature laughed maniacally as Ember slowly fell to unconsciousness. When the creature returned her to the ground, she was fast asleep with no sign of ever awakening again.

Two thousand years passed before two young alicorns discovered the six elements that had been hidden away by the heroes of the First Epoch. Wielding the elements, the two alicorn sisters rose up again the dark creature and defeated him, turning him to stone. The ponies were finally free from his spell, and showed great gratitude to the sisters, who took over leadership from the tyrant. The alicorns ruled over their world peacefully, making sure that all the ponies in the land were happy. One sister took control of the daytime, making the sun rise at dawn. The other sister took control over night, bringing up the moon. A thousand years later, the alicorn of the night grew jealous of her older sister and rebelled. The older sister was forced to banish her sister to the moon. Because of their separation, the sisters lost their ties to the Elements of Harmony. It would  be another thousand years before the Elements were to be used again to defend Equestria from evil. It was during this time that, due to the sisters no longer being tied to the Elements, the dark creature of the First Epoch, Discord, broke free from his stone tomb and attempted to bring chaos upon the land once again. The six heroes were able to use the Elements to stop him. At the request of the alicorn princess, the six ponies then reformed the creature, who redeemed himself and swore to use his powers for good.

Four-thousand years from the First Epoch, six ponies, descendents of the hero ponies, discovered the Elements that their ancestors had left behind. Destiny had brought them to the Elements of Harmony and they became tied with them. Together, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie were able to use the Elements to defend their world. As the six new heroes grew stronger, the Elements did so as well. Eventually, Twilight Sparkle, having achieved something no other pony had ever achieved, exalted herself to become an alicorn princess. On this day, the power of the six Elements became stronger and released a burst of energy that spread across the land. But little did the heroes know, that burst of energy would be the start of a new journey and the rise of a forgotten history.

Chapter 1

Few have been able to do it, but I have come up with my own method of combining gen 1 with gen 4 using my favorite character, Discord, as a tie between generations.

This story revolves around Ember, the pony from Rescue at Midnight Castle, and her desire to fulfill her destiny. But she is unable to accomplish her goals when Discord rises to take control of her world, banishing the humans away, and creating chaos in all the land. Her friends sacrifice themselves and become, themselves, the Elements of Harmony and Ember takes matters into her own hooves. Little Ember never makes it. But her story isn't over yet! It has only just begun.

Fanart is welcome, but please do not draw a comic of this story unless I change my mind later on. I plan on turning this story into a comic.

OH MY GOOOOOSSSSHHHH~!!

I'm sorry it took me so long to get to this, Avi, but I'm glad that I'm finally getting around to reading this! And I have to tell you I was hit with such a wave of nostalgia upon reading that entire first segment. It makes me miss the original show so so much. ;A; I don't think I can begin to tell you how much I appreciate the fact that you're writing this to sort of consolidate the original series and FiM. I mean, just looking at the set-up you've already provided in the prologue to tie it all together is phenomenal and inspired and I love it!!

Why does it not shock me that Discord is behind this?

; ; Embeeeerrrrr.... I miss that little pony so much. She was one of the best parts of the original series' pilot.
